The Institute aims to provide high quality consultancy in a wide range of areas to meet the needs of different stakeholders in education, special education, and related areas, and to contribute to improving provision of education in its widest sense. We deliver effective and pragmatic research and consultancy services for clients in Ireland and the UK. Working with practitioners, policy makers and managers, we offer high quality, theoretically grounded research, evaluation and consultancy.
The Institute is committed to research that has relevance to practitioners in the field, and to the development of practices that maximise the potential of every student in the educational system;
Consultancy is seen as a major form of knowledge transfer and the Institute is committed to disseminating the outcomes of research and to making this useful and relevant to a wide audience. Practice-based consultancy is equally valued.
Consultancies can include the following:
- one day workshop initiatives;
- short term in-service training and professional development;
- work with schools or associated organisations on issues related to special needs, inclusion, best practice, managing inclusive schools, and leadership in special needs;
- longer term consultancies which might involve work with schools, departments, local authorities, professional bodies, government agencies or collaboration with international organisations.
