Queens University Belfast, School of Education
In 2007, ICEP Europe further developed its partnership links through a joint collaboration with Queens University Belfast, School of Education by offering The Advanced Diploma in Professional Development (Adv Dip PD) Inclusive Education, which specialises in professional development in the areas of special needs and psychology. The Diploma course commences twice yearly – September & January. The online nature of the course was a new provision format for the School of Education. The Advanced Diploma in Professional Development (Adv Dip PD) Inclusive Education is designed to equip teachers with the skills needed to teach pupils with special or additional learning needs
St Patricks College, Drumcondra
ICEP Europe has a continuing professional relationship with St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra. ICEP Europe developed one of the world’s first online courses on autism in partnership with St Patrick’s and this initiative was supported and part funded by the Government of Ireland and the Department of Education and Skills under the National Development Plan. In 2007, ICEP Europe partnered again with St Patricks, Special Education Department to offer teachers an Online Certificate/Diploma in Special/Inclusive Education. This Certificate/Diploma course is officially accredited by Dublin City University. The course is part funded by the Special Education Support Service, Teacher Education Section, DES, under the National Development Plan.
Down Syndrome Ireland
Down Syndrome Ireland promotes inclusion, equality and choices for people with Down syndrome and their families. The ICEP Europe Down Syndrome CPD course was developed in collaboration with DSI and is designed to enable teachers to respond effectively to the unique and individual learning needs of those with Down syndrome.
NCSE
The National Council for Special Education was set up to improve the delivery of education services to persons with special educational needs arising from disabilities with particular emphasis on children. The National Council for Special Education was first established as an independent statutory body by order of the Minister for Education and Science in December 2003. ICEP Europe has recently won the research tender for a major longitudinal study for the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) in Ireland against competition from major universities including a UK university with international reputation in special education.
CTYI
The Irish Centre for Talented Youth (CTYI) works with young people of exceptional academic ability. Such students have been acknowledged by the Irish Department of Education as having “special educational needs”. The ICEP Europe CPD course – Teaching Gifted and Talented Students has been developed in collaboration with CTYI, DCU.
