Grounded in evidence-based research and proven techniques from positive psychology, this course teaches you new skills for promoting positive student behaviour and learning. It introduces research on the core areas of positive psychology, such as happiness, learned optimism, motivation, signature strengths, flow and mindfulness and explores evidence-based practices which promote student well-being, and improve behaviour and learning in the classroom and beyond.

It examines how the practical application of positive psychology can be introduced to students of all ages and how key practices such as mindfulness will improve focus and concentration and result in calmer and happier students. You will learn how to implement specific strategies for teaching happiness skills, and building resilience and intrinsic motivation. You will also have the opportunity to reflect on your own attitudes, strengths, skills and practice. We explore the themes of happiness, hope, creativity and wisdom and look at how we can integrate approaches and techniques from positive psychology into practice and our daily lives for improved well-being and emotional resilience.
